This month, we're teaming up with local artist ~ Eric Reeves ~ to support a worthy cause. All proceeds form October sales of Eric's wood turnings will be proudly donated to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

Since 1982, The Food Bank has been feeding people in need and leading the community to end hunger. It distributes food to agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hamden, and Hampshire counties. In addition to food distribution, The Food Bank serves as an important resource to all of its agencies to help strengthen the emergency food network, increase their capacity, and develop long-term projects to fight the underlying causes of hunger in our community.  To learn more, click here.

I was so honored that dmg was recently featured on a wonderful blog called New England Living.  A little while back, I had the pleasure of meeting Alyson, lifestyle blogger of New England Living, at dmg.  It was great getting to know Alyson and introducing her to the merchandise and the many talented artists I represent here at the store.

My annual buying trip to Las Vegas was exhausting (four shows in four days!), but very successful. JCK, Couture, and ACRE shows were super with great reorders with dmg favorites such as Zoe Chicco, Sethi Couture, Pyrrha, and Watchcraft. I also found some fabulous new jewelry collections that will launch at dmg this fall including Tat2 Designs and Evocateur. 

Took the husband with me as usual and we were able to squeeze in some great dinners, Cirque du Soleil, and a movie (had to go all the way to Vegas to see a movie!).  But I'm happy to be home with my kiddos :)

My interest in history extends to my love for antiques and vintage jewelry.  And I'm very excited to announce our Estate Jewelry Show happening this week at dmg. It's a three-day event (May 19-21) full of unique and interesting jewelry including pins, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets!  Come experience history and select your special piece from a collection of Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and Retro Periods, as well as contemporary pieces.

I've always found cameos appealing.  I like their sense of history (the technique goes back to the Romans) and they seem to tell a story too, which I like (yes, I have both a B.A. and Masters in art history!).

One of the jewelers I represent at dmg is Hannah Blount and I love her modern version of cameo jewelry with her grey lady rings. There's something mysterious, yet calming about them. Can't really explain it, but trust me, they're intriguing and a must-have for all ring lovers! Just ordered the small one in silver with a diamond, but I've a feeling I'll be ordering one in gold too :)

These days, it's imperative that we do what we can to help the environment.  Sustainability has migrated to the jewelry industry with some artists using eco-friendly, recylable materials to make beautiful jewelry.  I'm loving the earth-friendly collections by Deborah Bushinski and WeWood available in-store and at our online store at dmgnoho.com.

WeWood makes sophisticated wooden watches made from mostly scrap wood.  The company plants a tree for every watch sold.  Since 2011, it has planted over 420,000 trees!  I'm loving our WeWood collection right now.  From feminine florals to large, statement pieces, you'll definitely find your timepiece with WeWood!

I discovered Deborah Bushinski a couple of years back at a show and fell in love with her work. She uses salvaged birch bark and creates earrings, pins, and necklaces. Combining birch bark with gemstones and gold leaf overlay, the artist proves that green jewelry can be sophisticated and beautiful.

6th annual bridal jewelry show

This weekend, we're hosting our 6th annual Bridal Jewelry Show.  This year, we have two amazing designers, Chris Ploof and Megan Thorne, joining us.  Both jewelers will bring their extended collection including engagement rings, wedding bands and much more. Meet the artists and enjoy 15% off rings by the featured designers! 

We'll also have many local wedding vendors participating in the event!  Gather info about local photographers, venues, florist, etc.  Sample cupcakes from Sassy Mama's Delectable Cupcakes and cheese platters from Provisions!

Boyd and Royce

Just got back from a buying trip to ACC {American Craft Council} show in Baltimore.  It's a wonderful show full of talented artists and I'm guaranteed to find great jewelry, art glass and other handcrafted merchandise for my store.  Once again, it proved to be a successful trip!

New artists heading our way this spring and summer include jewelers Eric Silva, Laura Jaklitsch and Olivia de Soria, as well as glass studio Boyd and Royce.  I love the experimental vibe of their work and their contemporary, edgy aesthetic is bold and exciting!

American Made Show

I had my first buying trip of 2016 this past weekend at the American Made Show in DC. It was a brief, but productive trip filled with great reorders from current dmg artists, as well as a few new finds.  

Since I only see these artists once or twice a year, it's always great to reconnect with them at these shows and see what they are up to both personally and creatively.

Be on the lookout for new work from some of my favorites including Vanessa Gade, Gary Bodker, Leonie Lacouette, and Daphne Olive in the next few months! I also had the pleasure of finding two new jewelers, Christophe Poly and Marisa Krol. Excited for Marisa's collection of stud earrings and Christophe's architecturally-inspired jewelry!

Happy 2016!

Happy New Year!  Last year was full of adventures here at dmg.  We had a lot of exciting firsts: the bridal photo shoot, Valley Wed wedding expo, and the launch of our online store.  Thank you to all of my wonderful customers for the love and support I receive everyday.  I am ever so grateful.  I look forward to another great year in bringing you many new talents, special events, beautiful jewelry, home goods, and gifts!
