'tis the season

I'm excited to announce that Silver Seasons is back at the DMG!  The gallery took a short hiatus from the jewelry line, but browsing the collection at a wholesale show this year reminded me of how beautiful the pieces are and I just couldn't resist!

In the 1990s, artist Michael Michaud combined his love for nature and jewelry and began creating a line of botanical and floral jewelry. The collection, which includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and pins, is made of bronze and captures much of the precious details you see in nature.  His pieces include pea pods, sage, and eucalyptus.

I visited the Smith College Botanic Garden on Sunday. There was a beautiful Gingko tree on campus.  Its leaves were all strewn about on the ground and they reminded me of Michael's jewelry :)

These pieces would make lovely gifts for that nature lover in your life. It's perfect for us New Englanders!

in the kitchen...

I will be the first to admit that I don't belong in the kitchen.  I am not a cook (lots and lots of kudos for my husband who is) nor do I pretend to be.  Yet, I carry many kitchen-related merchandise in my store including cutting boards and serving bowls.  And from time to time, I feel the urge to bring these beautiful pieces home and cook.

One of my favorite kitchen items we have at the gallery is a line of pewter measuring spoons and cups by Crosby & TaylorThey can be hung on your kitchen wall or put on the counter with one of their clever, coordinating pewter stands. They are decorated with motifs such as birds, bamboo, and dragonflies that are sure to make you smile.  These cups and spoons will definitely make your cooking and baking time more fun.  They will also make a perfect gift for that chef in your life :)

Bon appetit!

Will you marry me?

Yesterday was my twelve year wedding anniversary.  I married the love of my life and best friend at an outdoor chapel on a gorgeous day in Camden, Maine.  And on my finger was a lovely platinum wedding band by Anne Sportun.

Twelve years later, I still adore my band with sprinkles of diamonds.  Over the last decade, Anne's bridal collection has evolved with many engagement ring and wedding band options for today's couples.  And guess what?  The collection is finally at the dmg!

The gallery's Anne Sportun bridal collection includes eighteen engagement ring mountings and ten wedding bands that can be ordered in 14k white gold, 18k yellow gold or platinum.  The rings are simple and elegant ~ timeless, yet contemporary.  And no worries; we can help you find a diamond or a colored stone {e.g. sapphire} to set into the engagement ring too.

So if you're ring shopping in the near future, we'd love to show you our collection!

Pequea Valley Forge

I'm not much of a candle person.  Probably because one of my friends had a candle fire in his dorm room when I was in college and it scared the bejeezus out of me.  But I am quite taken by these candle holders by Pequea Valley Forge and the candles by Barrick Design that we carry here at the gallery.  So much so that I actually ordered one for myself :)

Made from recycled iron, each candle holder is hand-forged by Alabama artist Al Stephens.  Al offers single, double and triple candle holders to suit your style and need.  The work is rustic, yet contemporary and look beautiful with the colorful Barrick Design candles on them.

What time is it?

Just received a new line of time pieces called WeWood.  They are stylish, reasonably priced ($120-$150) and eco-friendly too.  The watches are made of 100% natural wood and are absent of toxic materials.  They come in a variety of colors from blonde to black in woods such as maple and rosewood. What's more, WeWood is partners with American Forests and plants one tree for every watch purchased.
It's been a while since I've worn a watch, but WeWood definitely makes me want to wear one.  You'll probably see one on my wrist soon :) Be fashionable and "green" at the same time with WeWood time pieces!

drink in style

We drink everyday, so why not do it in style?  Whether it be water, lemonade, champagne,     or a shot of vodka, using beautiful, hand blown glassware would make your liquid taste even better, don't you think?

We have an array of drinkware at the dmg: the shot glasses (left) by Hudson Beach Glass that come with a cute glass tray, the tumblers by Tom Stoenner (below) with playful swirls of color, and

the beautiful champagne, wine, and martini glasses by Rosetree Glass, one of our best-selling line of stemware!  We just got these colorful margarita glasses by Will D'Errico in too that are just to die for :)

So come in and see what we have to offer. Drinks not included :) CHEERS!

Shopping in Sin City

Just got back from Vegas after attending a couple trade shows in search for new jewelry to represent at the DMG.  Yes, it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it ;)

It's was a fun, successful trip.  My new finds include a beautiful collection of gold and two-tone necklaces and earrings by Jane Bohan (right) and a line of customizable handmade charms by Page Sargisson (below). Page creates these great calendar charms that allow you to commemorate a special date. You can combine it with her other charms of numbers, letters and constellations too.

Super excited for the launch of these two new artists in the fall!  Also picked up more engagement rings and wedding bands from Anne Sportun and MaeVona.  Stay tuned for the new arrivals!

On the air . . .

Our TV commercials start running locally on WGGB ABC40 today!

It's been a few years since the gallery produced a commercial.  But account executive Jenn Arra and producer Chris Tannen @ Channel 40 presented me with a simple, yet brilliant concept that I just couldn't resist!  Some of our favorite artists are beautifully featured in the commercials including Ananda Khalsa, Josh Simpson, Laura Zindel and Stephen Webster.

Check out the two versions below!!  You can also win a $100 gift certificate to the gallery in May via ABC40, so stay tuned :)

Alexis Bittar

It's finally here . . . Alexis Bittar is now at the DMG!

I've been contemplating carrying Alexis' jewelry for some time and finally took the plunge this year.  My husband and I drove to their corporate office in NYC this winter and had such a blast selecting stock from the Miss Havisham and Lucite collections.  We even got to see the press room that houses thousands of jewelry pieces, as well as outrageous headpieces and masks that Alexis has created over the years for fashion shows and celebrities such as Lady Gaga!

Yes, Alexis Bittar is a big name in the fashion industry. I don't tend towards famous brands in my gallery, but I just love his jewelry ~ its playfulness, designs, affordability, the whole bit.  And believe it or not, his jewelry is one of the few fashion houses that still produces in the United States. Having American-made merchandise is one of the important aspects of my business and I'm thrilled to have Alexis' work here!

bridal jewelry show

The DMG hosted its annual Bridal Jewelry Show this weekend. The event was a huge success! It was great fun hanging out with the artists and helping lots of happy customers :)

A special thanks to the three featured artists: Kalee Sholdt, Chris Ploof, and Ananda Khalsa for taking the time to attend the event and helping customers find the one.  Many engagement rings and wedding bands were sold during the two-day event.

Much gratitude to all the wedding vendors that participated and helped us with the event.  We couldn't have done this without your support and generosity. Thanks also to my awesome staff, especially Em, for all the hard work.

The cupcakes from Queen Bee Cupcakery were a huge hit.  My twin boys loved them, of course :)  The flowers from Forget Me Not were gorgeous!  We loved the aroma and the customers couldn't stop talking about the beautiful arrangements.

out with the old, in with the new ...

We have new signage on the front door! It was created by DMG designer, Lexi, and Porcupine Sign & Design of Northampton. I'm so delighted with the way it looks :)

The gallery front looks terrific with the new sign and sweet pansies in the window boxes (thanks to Emily).  Spring is here!

The new signage got me thinking about redoing our big store sign.  Any ideas?

my discovery in dwell

I like anything house-related ~ architecture, real estate, and interior design. I am one of those people who watch HGTV and shout out which house I think the buyers are going to go for on House Hunters.  I am also a huge fan of Dwell Magazine and enjoy reading the publication cover to cover.

Last Dec, I was browsing through Dwell and came across an ad of Vanessa Gade's workHer jewelry caught my attention immediately and I knew I had to have it at the gallery.  I contacted Vanessa in Jan and her collection is now at the DMG!

Vanessa's jewelry is architectural and modern.  I love the concept behind her collectionAsymmetrical, yet balanced, minimalist, yet complex.  Her pieces are like studies on geometry, kinetics, and balance.

Little did I know Dwell could lead me to a great jeweler! Thanks Dwell ;)

what's new in glass

New inventory @ the DMG!  Beautiful, nature-inspired vases by Mary-Melinda Wellsandt are here :)

Mary-Melinda transfers her original photographs, drawings and paintings onto glass and creates three-dimensional art forms that are decorative and functional. Images of trees, flowers, grass, and pussy willows adorn the surfaces with great spring colors. You certainly don't need flowers to enjoy these vases!

The vases come in many different sizes and shapes (the minis are my favorite). They make perfect gifts as they exude lots of sweetness and joy.  We've already sold a few, so come visit us before they are all gone!

spring cleaning

Wednesday was the vernal equinox. Unfortunately, Western Mass still looks and feels much like winter with cold temperatures and snow on the ground.

However, with spring on my mind (and hopefully right around the corner), I decided to do some "spring cleaning" at the DMG to make room for the array of new inventory arriving in the next couple of months.  We now have a great selection of silver & gold jewelry, glass and ceramic pieces at 30-50% off!!  Many customers took home beautiful items at amazing prices today :)  Don't miss this sale ~ it's for 4 days only

to the happy couple!

The happy couple is here!  To promote our upcoming bridal jewelry show ~ Find the One ~ J. Rich in Northampton and Bridal Heirlooms in S. Hadley kindly loaned us dress forms with beautiful wedding attires for our front window.  If you are walking around Noho in the next couple of weeks, check it out!  And no, we don't sell wedding dresses or suits here :)  But we know great places that do!

You're cordially invited to a great event, where you can meet the featured artists, view their entire bridal jewelry collection and save 15% off your ring purchase!  We've also teamed up with local wedding vendors such as Forget Me Not Florist, Brooks & Butterfield, Dani Fine Photography and Salon 241While you're picking out your engagement ring or wedding band, you can find all the information you need to plan your beautiful wedding and win great prizes too!  For details, click here.

concrete clocks!

I saw these amazing clocks by LeeLABStudio at the New York International Gift Fair last summer and had to have them. It was the artists' first ever trade show and I was delighted to be one of their first wholesale orders.  Made of concrete in subtle, yet striking colors of grey, light blue and slate, these clocks mirror so many things I love in life ~ geometry, patterns, architecture & textiles!  I love the juxtaposition of the artists' use of concrete and the digitally-derived forms.

And guess how creators Lindsey Lee and brothers John and Brian Lee got started?  They are indeed one of the success stories from Kickstarter!  This is one of my all time favorite finds!

spring has sprung!

It's hard to believe six months has passed since I assumed ownership of the gallery.  I admit, I was initially unsure as to whether I could successfully balance being a business owner, wife and mother of 4-year-old twins.  Yet, I've been able to stay focused in both facets of my life ~ I have my amazing staff and family to thank for that.  It's been an amazing ride thus far and I look forward to taking the DMG to new heights this year!

Photo: My new upstairs office at the gallery! Yes, the walls are lavender :)It was nice to take in warmer temperatures this past weekend in Western Mass.  Spring symbolizes an exciting time at the gallery when new merchandise starts arriving on a daily basis.  And spring has definitely sprung at DMG! The gallery is filled with beautiful new work by Liz Ryan, Para Clocks, Deb Brilla, and Todd Reed just to name a fewI returned from a buying trip a couple of weeks ago with a tall pile of orders for the entire year.  Stay tuned for more!

I'm excited to launch this blog and share gallery news and pics about upcoming events and new merchandise.  I hope you get to know me a little better too.

I'm also excited for my new upstairs office with lavender walls :)
