Alex Sepkus Trunk Show!

An exciting event at the dmg this weekend!  The highly anticipated Alex Sepkus jewelry trunk show will be on Oct 23 and 24 {Fri 11-7pm and Sat 10-6pm}.  Alex is one of my favorites jewelers and I'm thrilled to have his extended collection including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, gemstone rings and bridal.  We'll be giving away one of his diamond alphabet pendants during the event, so I hope you'll join us!

This Saturday, we'll also be joining many other downtown Northampton businesses on Live United Day to help support the United Way.  The dmg will be donating 5% of its sales from that day to the United Way.

new bridal collection!

Exciting news!  Two new bridal lines by jewelers Megan Thorne and Pamela Froman are now available at the dmg.  Both are great additions to our extensive bridal collection that includes a variety of metals and styles that fit every budget.

Pamela Froman
I adore Megan's rings for her vintage-inspired, feminine style. The delicate details in her engagement rings and wedding bands create a romantic feel ~ almost as if the rings have been passed down from generation to generation.

I love Pamela's ring for their bold, contemporary vibe.  She experiments with textures and metal colors, and her signature swirl designs create a refined, yet organic look that's sure to appeal to many women.

Check out these collections and more at the dmg!

great finds in NYC!

terrafirma ceramics

Last weekend, I made a trip to NYC to attend the NY NOW gift show to stock up for fourth quarter (yes, the holiday season!) and to discover new artists for the dmg. I'm excited about my great finds in both jewelry and home goods!

Making a debut at dmg in Oct are serving bowls and platters by Terrafirma Ceramics.  Love the artist's use of bold, modern patterns and her color palette! Glass artist Vitreluxe will also introduce his line of beautiful bowls and vases at the gallery this fall.  His "crystal" bowls remind me of gemstones!

I went global for jewelry at this show.  My job as the owner is to bring you a collection of amazing handcrafted work and I couldn't resist these two jewelers!  Be on the lookout for resin jewelry by Carla Edwards from Scotland and steel wearables by Iris Saar Isaacs from Australia soon.

dmg photo shoot

I recently shot a new bridal ad campaign for the gallery.  The photo shoot took place at the lovely Quonquont Farm in Whately, Mass.  I teamed up with some fabulous local wedding vendors including Sandra Costello (photographer), Liz Washer (hair and makeup artist), Bridal Heirlooms (wedding dresses), Forget Me Not Florist (bouquets), and J. Rich (suit).  I was also fortunate to enlist the help of two lovely real life (!) couples from the Valley and couldn't be happier with the shoot.  Be on the look out for our new bridal ads this summer!

Las Vegas!

Where do you go to find the most sought after jewelry in the industry?  Vegas, of course!  Every year, Sin City hosts Couture and JCK, where buyers such as myself see hundreds of jewelry designers and their amazing collections in person.

Be on the lookout for bridal collections from Pamela Froman and Megan Thorne, as well as a line of diamond necklaces and earrings by Zoe Chicco.  What's more, brand new pieces arriving from Ananda Khalsa, Amali, and Heather Guidero too!  I was also fortunate to attend the ACRE craft show on the same trip and discovered a new glass artist, Blodgett Glass, and fiber artist, Kavita Singh.

Did I gamble, you ask?  I casually played the slots and lost.  But I won having found new jewels to bring home to the Valley!

studs

Studs.  No, I'm not talking about studly men, I mean stud earrings!  Generally, I wear large, long earrings.  Maybe that's because I'm a product of the 80's (yes, I had those hair-sprayed peacock-like bangs too).  Recently, I purchased a pair of diamond studs by my good friend and amazing jeweler ~ Ananda Khalsa.  I love them and wear them all the time.  I like them so much that Ananda is now making me another one to accessorize my second earring hole with!

We don't get a lot of calls for stud earrings, but now that I have a new appreciation for them, I'm determined to create a new trend in the Valley.  So look out for a variety of studs at the dmg this spring!

American Craft Council Show

I headed down to Baltimore on a buying trip to the American Craft Council show this week.  I was desperately hoping for warmer temperature, but it was just as cold and windy down there as home.  Yet despite the cold weather, it was a very successful trip.

This year, in addition to many reorders from some of my favorites, I picked up a new line of stingray bracelets by Lema J and a collection of adorable glass vases and perfume bottles by Keysha Koy. I also rekindled my business relationship with artists such as Pascale Judet, whose clocks I absolutely adore.  Looking forward to receiving these orders this spring and summer!  Stay in touch with dmg via FB, Instagram, Twitter, e-letters, and my blog ;)

valentine's day special

Valentine's Day is this Saturday!  This year, we've teamed up with local florist Forget Me Not.  Between Feb 12-14, purchase your Valentine's Day gift of $60 or more at the dmg and receive a beautiful rose {while supplies last}.  It's our way of saying "thank you" and "Happy Valentine's Day!"

We have a great selection of jewelry and gifts for your Valentine.  What better way to say "I love you" than a dmg box and a gorgeous rose!  And if you're planning a date night in Northampton this weekend, the Ice Art Festival is happening Friday and on display throughout the weekend. We are co-sponsoring Tim de Christopher with our neighbor, William Baczek Fine Arts.   See you soon!

on being social

I consider myself more introverted, but these days being a gallery owner forces me to be more 'social' ~ social media that is.  Today, the dmg has all facets of social media covered including Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter.  I even have my own blog!

My most recent Instagram pic
I can't keep up with all the social media without help from my staff, but I'm proud to say that I do most of the pinning and instagramming for the gallery myself. I also write my own blog and create the gallery e-letters. It's a great way for me to keep in touch with my customers {Katrina!} and still find a way to be creative.

So join us on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter today.  Let us keep you in the loop about what's happening at the dmg.  You won't be disappointed, I promise!

American Made Show

Despite my return flight being cancelled, my buying trip to the American Made Show in DC was quite fun.  I caught up with many of the wonderful artists I represent and met some amazing new talents.  I even saw a couple of my best friends from college for dinner, so it was a great trip overall.

da metals
Here's a quick report of my findings from my first buying trip of 2015.  I picked up a few new jewelry lines including Henry Wichusen, Erica Stankwytch Bailey, and da metals.  Other newbies to the dmg this year include glass artist Gary Bodker and woodworker Robert Jones.

Not to worry, I also reordered from dmg favorites such as Leandra Drumm, Rachel Atherley, and Ananda Khalsa.  These artists had their own new designs to show off at American Made and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you throughout the year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  I'm gearing up for 2015 and busy planning out the new year ahead.  I hope to bring you many special events, amazing new artists and merchandise throughout the year.  We are also launching our online store this winter!

This past year was a terrific one for the dmg.  We greatly appreciate your support in 2014.  Thank you for keeping it local too.  Your patronage of the dmg allows me to support the community I love, as well as many local organizations I feel passionate about.  I look forward to serving you in the new year!
